Esplanade- 11th November, 2006. The National Parang
Association of Trinidad and Tobago presented its Tobago leg of 2006
events before Hundreds of patrons with ten (10) bands playing to the
magnificently rich sound of our oldest Hispanic musical inheritance-
PARANG.

Students & Staff of Bishops High School on the 10th November,
2006 Vacated the school's compound as Fire Officers accompanied
by Police Officers responded to a Call indicated that a bomb was
on the school's compound. Fire Officials are
pleading to the persons practicing prank calls to decease from
this practice since the procedures undertaken by the service to
deem a compound safe after a bomb scare, requires time that
could be spent handling, more serious and genuine situations.

over 2,000 passengers aboard most of whom toured the paradise
island Tobago, before the cruise ship departed out shores at
approximately 5:45pm the said day.

Association presented, Diabetes Forum on the 29th of November 2006, at
Fairfield Complex, Bacolet Street, Scarborough, Tobago. With the
theme- "Health Care and the Diabetic". Short addresses were made by
The Assistant Secretary for Health and Social Services- Hon, Albert
Pilgrim and The Secretary for Health and Social Services- Hon.
Oswald Williams. Diabetics we counseled with special
presentation on the following topics: Health Care and the Diabetic,
The Medical Prospective, Living with Diabetes, A Non-Diabetic
Prospective, The Nutrition Prospective, after which a section of
Question and Answers followed.

WARRIOR
PRIDE DRILL SCENARIO-
On October 27th, 2006, NEMA Tobago
in collaboration with BHP Billiton Trinidad and Tobago and the
following agencies, (National Helicopters, Kaizen, Trinidad and
Tobago Police Service, Almandoz Tobago Ltd, Division of Agriculture
Natural Resources and the Environment and Heller Security Services)
conducted a Scenario Oil Spill Drill exercise at Petit Trou Beach,
Lambeau, Tobago.
Observations and Comments:
Onlookers from
major organization across Tobago, felt pleased and assured that if
in the future Tobago is threatened of affected by an oil spill,
there is adequate equipment and personnel trained and ready to
respond as they contained and controlled the affected area without
causing major disruption on the Island. |

World Food Day
2006- The World Food Day National Committee and the Division
of Agriculture, Marine Affairs & the Environment, Tobago House of
Assembly- presented the Tobago Celebration of World Food Day 2006
under the world Theme: "Investing in Agriculture for Food
Security". Wednesday 18th & 19th October, 2006. At the Dwight
Yorke Stadium, Car Park.

Fire
Prevention Week 2006 (8th to 13th October)- Began with a
church service and march to the fire station at Roxborough,
Breakfast meeting with the business community at Mt. Irvine Hotel
and on Friday the 13th was the final display of safety gears and
services at the Scarborough Port compound.

the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, reported an earthquake
measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale occurred near the north coast of

CARIFESTA IX- Celebrating
our people contesting the world stage-
A Grand
Market was setup at the Scarborough Esplanade from the
23rd to the 30th of
September, to showcase the best talents from Tobago and also
from across the region. The people of Tobago have began witnessing
performances from some of the visiting contingents such as
Martinique, Cuba and Jamaica. Visitor to our shores will tour
cultural displays in the following villages: Charlotteville, Moriah,
Lex Coteaux and Buccoo.

Prime Minister Best Village- Preliminary Craft Competition-
held at Fairfield Complex, Bacolet Street, Scarborough. The
categories for judging were Straw, Household items, Carnival Art,
Woodwork, Fabric, Needle work, Cupper and Lamps. Participants
were Pembroke Women Group, Patience Women Group, North Side Combine-
with the Villages, L’ anse Fourmi, Bloody Bay, Parlatuvier and
Castara. B&B Associates, Pamela's, West End Associates, Family First

Service, Cadat Force, Fire Services, Scouts Association, Girls
Guides Association, Boys Brigade, Pathfinders, Pentecostal

Youth Council International Youth Day 2006- held on the 13th
of August, 2006 at the Store Bay Beach Facility hard court and was
well attended by hundred of patrons who were reaffirm that 2007
celebrations will be more grand. Booths on show were- NEMA Tobago,
NEDCO, Civilian Corp., Tobago Aids Association to name a few.

The Tobago
Muhtadi Drumming Festival 2006- was held at Fort Granby on
August 6th 2006.

July 2006 Incidents & Events:
|
The Festival begins on July
14th 2006. Over the two week period each village attempted to
venerated, celebrated pieces of Tobago's history. Natural legacies
were also part of the Festival, and accounted for numerous forays
into the physical characteristics of the land and sea. Heritage 2006
will culminated with a march from Calder Hall junction and ending at
Dwight Yorke Stadium.
The Tobago Festivals Committee expresses its
heart felt gratitude to all those who, in any way, contributed to

authorities have made a wise decision to install these lights - good
planning indeed!

Tobago Swim Classic
held on July 2nd 2006, at the Arcadia House, Orange Hill, Tobago. A
total of sixty-one (61) swimming events for ages (5 and Under) to
(15 & over) followed by the distribution of Medals and Trophies to
winning clubs and individual swimmers. This event was another
spotlight of the efficient nurturing of youngsters to represent
Tobago in the future.
